Welcome to Jenness Farm!

DucksWith Spring comes a time of awakening, renewal and hope!  Spring brings new life, and it can be seen everywhere at Jenness Farm!  The pond is melting and the ducks are thrilled to be swimming!! (Can you imagine physically not being able to do what you were essentially made to do…for 6 months out of the year!?)  New goat babies are being born, chicks are chirping and heavy winter coats are being shed so that the barn swallows and other birds can use the hair to line their nests!  Needless to say, we will NOT complain about the mud or may flies this Spring after such a dreary and heavy handed Winter!  We are extremely excited about changes going on at Jenness Farm!  We have found a home for the HUGE loam pile down past the boys little barn and we will be relocating the compost pile to start seeding our new pasture!  We have already invested in site work for the new pasture and will be moving the boys to create a new open pasture space for Emma the horse, and others!  We are currently fundraising for raising a new “Community Barn” to house our goats and other rescue animals so we will have enough space to accommodate camp groups, local animal group meetings, field trips, and educational programming!  We are THRILLED at the prospect of offering this to our community, and every penny which is being donated takes us one step closer to being able to help educate our next generation of potential farmers and animal ambassadors!  You can check out our gofundme site at http://www.gofundme.com/jennessfarm

You can now watch LIVE STREAMING VIDEO from our barn!  We have a Goat Cam set up in our “big girl stall” and a Kid Cam! set up in the babies stall for your viewing pleasure!  We have been told that it is a phenomenal “stress break” from the work day!  WE are enjoying the ability to see the goat’s natural behavior without interrupting them when we physically walk into the barn.  Several lucky customers were able to view the live streaming  birth of triplets about an hour after we installed the first camera!  You can view the cams at the top of the main Jenness Farm web page, just click on “GOAT CAMS”!  www.jennessfarm.com/goat-cam/

SAVE THE DATE!!  Our Annual Jenness Farm Spring Open House is Saturday and Sunday, May 16th and 17th from 10:00 ~ 6:00 and we are lining up some fun!  Milking demonstrations, spinning demonstrations, sheep shearing, face painting for the kiddos, maple products from Sugar Momma’s Maple Farm, crafts from Dueling Roosters Farm, Nottingham School’s own “Mr. O”  &  Jameson with the pottery wheel and their beautiful pottery, Sweet Olive Cupcakes, Good Ole Boys BBQ will be here with samples of their amazing sauce, Fibersmith Lane’s products, reclaimed welded creations by Mike Russo, tiny clay creations by Chloe Russo, photography and other local artisans.  We will have live music both days from 12:00 – 3:00 and will be adding more as we get closer to the date!

In closing…we would like to introduce our newest farm guests and bonded pair Bobby and Thunder, the 40 year old donkey and 30 year old pony who we rescued from slaughter.  They will live out the rest of their natural lives, in peace, at Jenness Farm.
